New Submissions Requested for the Scot Stoney Award For Excellence

To honor Scot Stoney, a long time employee and major contributor to our company who passed away last year, we created the "Scot Stoney Award For Excellence." This award is presented annually, and given to the company, or individual within that company, that best exemplifies the spirit, passion, and innovation that Scot demonstrated throughout his life and his career with Select.

Our 2009 winner of the Scot Stoney Award for Excellence was Doug Nystrom from the State of Illinois. Doug used NOMAD to create a Staff Directory that is used extensively throughout the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Doug used NOMAD to generate the HTML code that links to Google Maps to provide an employee's physical location as well as frequently used driving directions. Written in HTML, this directory is then available from employees' Web browsers where they can sort the directory by user name or user location (city, county, region, and administrative entity) for easier and faster access to the information required.

To be considered for this award for the upcoming year of 2010, we are looking for the company or individual within a company who is using NOMAD or UltraQuest in a unique or innovative manner to solve a business problem, provide information for improved decision making, or to improve a business process for your company. To qualify for this award, your company must be a current customer - with the nominated application still in use, or with the nominated application written within the past five years but not currently in use. • Name of nominated individual or company
• Description of the problem
• Description of the solution provided
  • Specific products used
  • How are the products used
• Benefits to the company – e.g. cost savings, improved service, time savings
• Explanation of what makes your solution unique or innovative

A committee of Select employees will evaluate all submissions received prior to November 30, 2009. A winner will be selected based on the solution’s impact on your company and its level of innovation. The winner will be announced in our newsletter for February 2010. The winner will receive a plaque signifying this accomplishment. In addition, a significant donation in Scot’s honor will be made in the individual’s or company’s name to the Swim Across the Sound, a charitable organization that provides a variety of services to cancer patients and their families.
