Winner Announced for the Scot Stoney Award For Excellence

To honor Scot Stoney, a long time employee and major contributor to our company who passed away in 2008, we created the "Scot Stoney Award For Excellence." This award is presented annually, and given to the company, or individual within that company, that best exemplifies the spirit, passion, and innovation that Scot demonstrated throughout his life and his career with Select.

I am happy to announce that the 2010 winner of the Scot Stoney Award for Excellence is Sentara Healthcare with the team of Mark Hashemi, Manager, Carrie Horton, and Stephen Rice. Sentara Healthcare is a not-for-profit integrated health system comprised of over 100 sites, including 7 acute care hospitals, 7 nursing and 3 assisted living facilities, 25 primary care practices, and many other peripheral facilities. Sentara also offers a full range of health coverage plans and plan products providing service to over one million members. Sentara Healthcare is recognized nationally for quality, patient safety, and innovation, and serves more than two million residents of the Hampton Roads area of southeastern Virginia.

At Sentara, Mark Hashemi’s group was manually pulling data from several different reports and then again manually creating an EXCEL spreadsheet displayed as a pivot table which was then emailed to their customers. Their customers are members of the hospital who need this information for accounting purposes.

With UltraQuest Reporter, Carrie and Stephen are able to generate EXCEL spreadsheets with the data that they require. In some cases, they are able to get information that had been unavailable to them until now. In addition, Carrie and Stephen use the UltraQuest Scheduling and Batch facilities to run their requests after their production jobs have completed. This scheduling scheme allows the reports to reflect the most current information from the overnight production jobs and, furthermore, means that their output is ready for their customers via email when they start their day.

In the future, they will be publishing links to these Excel spreadsheets in UltraQuest Library to allow others with just a web browser to view the completed pivot tables.

As the second winner of this prestigious award, a plaque signifying this accomplishment will be given to Sentara Healthcare. In addition, a significant donation in Scot's honor will be made in Sentara Healthcare's name to Swim Across the Sound, a charitable organization that provides a variety of services to cancer patients and their families.
