One thing an agile process can never be is an off-the-shelf methodology. How can it? By its nature, any textbook methodology that expresses sequencing of activities, inevitably constrains the execution of those activities. If it is large, it will appear monolithic. If small, it will be inadequate for the more complex of needs. In reality, we can make things simpler by considering the following: defined process can neither be agile nor inflexible – how the process is applied is what counts.
