Aonix® Announces the Release of the First
Thin-Client, Internet-Enabled, Component Management Tool – Select
Component Portal™BOULDER, Colorado, April 12, 2002 —
Aonix, a member of the Gores Technology Group and a leading provider of
systems design solutions, today announced the release of their new product
Select Component Portal.
Component-Based Development (CBD) is now the de facto process for
developing successful business-driven web and bespoke applications. This
trend has been driven by companies seeking to achieve the Return on
Investment and quality benefits, which can only be achieved by using the
CBD process. Aonix has been leading the tools space for CBD for over 5
years with its market leading Select Component Factory product suite.
Select Component Portal is based on the widely acclaimed Select Component
Manager™ technology – a robust and scalable repository based component
management solution – which has been extended to run as a thin client into
the Select Component Manager repository.
“We are really excited about Select Component Portal, we believe that the
launch of this new product will enable organizations to more effectively
use CBD to gain reuse and quality improvements in their web services based
development. Select Component Portal revolutionizes the reuse of
components for any organization as its scalable, repository based
technology is internet/intranet enabled. This product is a must for
companies who are buying in, reusing, renting, or designing web services
or components,” says Ashley Abdo, CEO, Aonix Corporation.
“It has been proven that companies who adopt CBD can expect a ROI of over
20% in the first year with the ROI figures for subsequent years rising
exponentially. Aonix has the solution which enables this process to be
executed easily and effectively within organizations of any size”,
explains Hedley Apperly, VP Marketing, Aonix Corporation.
Select Component Portal simplifies reuse through its easy-to-use
interface, which allows developers and analysts to easily search and find
existing components or services, registering interest in the functionality
to the owners, as well as finding out versioning, quality and
prerequisites for running through the web based thin client. Select
Component Portal also allows a design view of the component for
components, which have been designed using Select Component Factory™.
The Select Component Portal Features include:
Component Browser technology within Select Component Portal enables an
internet/intranet view of all components (common component stored include
web services, WSDL, J2EE java beans, COM and COM+ components), which are
available for reuse within an organization. This technology can link an
entire organization (and its partners, if appropriate) to its component
assets becoming the central hub for promoting and managing the CBD
process.
The thin client view of the repository ensures that the management of
components remains centralized decreasing the overhead of managing multi
repositories locally. It also gives organizations the option of
centralizing the publishing of components enabling quality and testing
procedures to be run before the component goes live within Select
Component Portal.
The component repository has built in security and management
functionality so that organizations can manage effectively the use and
reuse of components not only ensuring the integrity and reuse of the
components but also giving an overall measurement of the ROI.
Pricing and Availability
Select Component Portal is priced at $100 per seat.
