Select’s UltraQuest™ Adds Web Services for Legacy
DataBOULDER, Colo. — September 30, 2003 —Select
Business Solutions™, a member of Gores Technology Group and a leading
provider of S/390 reporting and data access tools, announced today the
release of UltraQuest WebServices, the latest offering in the UltraQuest
product family. UltraQuest WebServices provides Web services to access
S/390 data sources enabling a seamless and efficient integration of legacy
data with the next generation of business intelligence applications.
With its unique user interface, UltraQuest automates the building of a Web
service through its Guided Tour, smart Wizard technology. The services can
manipulate, aggregate, as well as join data from multiple sources
producing the appropriate XML, which can be anything from a simple answer
set to a robust one-to-many, hierarchical structure. Once published, the
UltraQuest Web service is then easily accessed by the application
developer for use in a variety of Interactive Development Environments (IDEs),
including the J2EE and .NET development environments.
UltraQuest WebServices supports access to S/390 data sources, including
IBM’s DB2 for OS/390 or VM, VSAM, IMS, IDMS, Teradata, NOMAD® and QSAM.
According to Roger Cox, Sr. Product Marketing Manager, “standard reports
and queries from this legacy data can now be made available as a Web
service callable from Java and .NET development environments. This
approach facilitates the deployment of real time business applications
that integrate critical information that exists today on mainframe-based
systems.”
UltraQuest, which includes a mainframe-based application server, works
through a Web server to provide these three additional services:
- UltraQuest Reporter: for interactive, real-time access to reports and
data extracts
- UltraQuest Library: a shared library of reports available through a Web
browser
- UltraQuest Applications: for custom Web-based applications
