Select’s UltraQuest™ Adds Job Scheduling
FacilitiesBOULDER, Colo. — March 31, 2005 —Select
Business Solutions™, a member of Gores Technology Group and a leading
provider of S/390 reporting and data access tools, announced today a new
release of its Web-based, business intelligence software, UltraQuest
version 4.5. This new release’s Scheduling Facilities provides a great
deal of flexibility for users in terms of job scheduling. Users are now
able to schedule their report requests for batch processing as part of a
company’s regular production activities or based on an individual’s
personal schedule.
UltraQuest servers provide end users with easy Web access to S/390 data
sources, including IBM’s DB2 for z/OS or z/VM, VSAM, IMS, IDMS, Teradata,
NOMAD® and QSAM. According to Roger Cox, Sr. Product Marketing Manager,
“users may submit their report requests for batch processing as part of a
site’s production process where they may want to run their jobs after the
production updates have completed for that day to ensure the data in their
report is current. Recurrent jobs can be scheduled to run, for example,
every Monday and Friday, or on the last day of each month. Not tied to
production runs, personal scheduling provides even further flexibility in
scheduling when jobs are run, allowing jobs to be run at a specific time
of day. Therefore, one can schedule a job to run weekly on Tuesday and
Friday at 4:00 PM.”
UltraQuest version 4.5 will also support report output as an Adobe PDF
(Portable Document Format) document, known for providing superior printer
support from the desktop.
UltraQuest, which includes a mainframe-based application server, works
through a Web server to provide the following services:
UltraQuest Reporter: for interactive, real-time access to reports
and data extracts from mainframe data sources.
UltraQuest Library: a shared library of reports, published from
UltraQuest Reporter, which are available through Web browser menus.
UltraQuest Applications: custom applications, built using the
UltraQuest server and the underlying UltraQuest 4GL. These applications
may involve reports as well as data queries and updates.
UltraQuest WebServices: provides Web services to access S/390 data
sources enabling a seamless and efficient integration of legacy data with
the next generation of business intelligence applications.
