Select’s UltraQuest™ Adds Dashboards and
Oracle Access
Trumbull, CT May 31, 2007:
Select Business Solutions™, an Avantcé Software company, and a
leading provider of mainframe reporting and data access tools, announced
today a new release of its Web-based, business intelligence software,
UltraQuest version 5.0. Highlights of this release are a new dashboard
facility and access to Oracle data. This new release’s Dashboards
provide an "at-a-glance" view of business information across the
organization. They are typically generated for management who require a
high level view of business performance, and prefer timely, visual
snapshots of both operational and strategic data.
The dashboards take advantage of UltraQuest server access to mainframe
data sources, including IBM’s DB2 for z/OS or z/VM, VSAM, IMS, IDMS,
Teradata, NOMAD® and QSAM. According to Roger Cox, Sr. Product Marketing
Manager, “End users can develop their own dashboards from within the
UltraQuest Reporter environment and then publish them through the
UltraQuest Library. Other users can reference these dashboards directly
through a URL.”
The new UltraQuest dashboards not only provide a wealth of information at
a single glance, but they can also be used as a graphical menu to access
related reports. Dashboard cells provide summary information as either
charts or small reports. Links associated with each cell allow the user to
call up additional reports, and drill down to related detail.
This new release also provides access to Oracle data residing on mid-tier
UNIX, Windows or Linux servers. Users of UltraQuest Reporter or the
UltraQuest Library will report from Oracle data in just the same way that
they currently report from mainframe data sources. Because all reports are
handled by the same UltraQuest server, they will also be able to join
their mainframe data from DB2, VSAM, IMS, IDMS and Teradata, with their
Oracle data for more comprehensive reporting.
UltraQuest, which includes a mainframe-based application server, works
through a Web server to provide the following services:
UltraQuest Reporter: for interactive, real-time access to reports
and data extracts from mainframe data sources.
UltraQuest Library: a shared library of reports, published from
UltraQuest Reporter, which are available through Web browser menus.
UltraQuest Applications: custom applications, built using the
UltraQuest server and the underlying UltraQuest 4GL. These applications
may involve reports as well as data queries and updates.
UltraQuest WebServices: provides Web services to access mainframe
data sources enabling a seamless and efficient integration of legacy data
with the next generation of business intelligence applications.
Pricing and
Availability
Select’s UltraQuest is available immediately with either capacity or
user-based pricing starting at $28,000.
