Scope-FunctionZachman Definition "List of Processes the Business Performs" This is simply a list of processes (or functions) that the Enterprise performs - the "universe of discourse" relative to process, the "transformation” of Enterprise "inputs” into "outputs". It is probably adequate that this list is at a fairly high level of aggregation. It defines the scope, or boundaries, of the Rows 2–5 models of processes that the Enterprise performs. Select Perspective The Select Perspective includes a Business Process Model as part of the Business Alignment phase of the Consume Workflow of the Supply, Manage and Consume (SMaC) Service and Component Based Development model. This Business Model, which forms part of the Domain Model, is made up of two types of diagram; the Process Hierarchy and Process Thread diagrams. To fulfil the needs of this Zachman Framework cell, the Process Hierarchy diagrams from previous projects should be collated, rationalised and aggregated to the highest level Business Process Group which is normally named something like 'Run The Company'. Only the first two or three levels of decomposition below 'Run The Company' are generally needed for the output from this cell although lower compositions may sometimes be considered necessary. Select Solution Factory Use the Business Process Hierarchy and Thread diagrams inSelect Architect to build the high level Enterprise business process hierarchy or as described in the Select Perspective, to document the business processes in scope for projects.
If taking the project route, use Select Model Copy to copy the Process Hierarchy diagrams from project models to the Enterprise model.
Collate, rationalize and aggregate the project Process Hierarchies onto one or more Enterprise Business Hierarchy diagram(s).
