Zachman Definition

List of Events Significant to the Business

This is simply a list of events to which the Enterprise responds - the "universe of discourse" relative to time.  It is probably adequate that this list is at a fairly high level of aggregation.  It defines the scope, or-boundaries of the models of time that are significant to the Enterprise and found in Rows 2-5.

Select Perspective

The Select Perspective recommends the construction of Business Process Thread (PTD) diagrams for projects as part of the Business Alignment phase of the Consume Workflow of the Supply, Manage and Consume (SMaC) Service and Component Based Development model.

By definition, these PTD contain one or more Business Events which trigger the Business Processes carried out by the Business Actors each of which may originated within the organization (internal) or from without (external).

At the high-level of abstraction required for this Zachman cell, it is recommended that the Enterprise Framework documents the known external Business Events and associates each one with the appropriate high-level Business Process.

Select Solution Factory

Use the Class Diagram in Select Architect to pop[ulate the dictionary with the external Business Events either directly:

or by attaching them to the relevant high-level Business Process on a PTD:
